It's no secret that among all American states, Florida boasts the largest senior citizen population. People older than 64 years old comprise 18% of its population, with a projected four and a half million of them living in the state by 2020.
Among all these older folks, there are many drivers out there for whom the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles applies extra requirements when renewing their driver's license. These requirements pertain to the driver's capability to operate a vehicle safely and are placed to ensure the safety of both the driver and the population in general.
