Is the Florida DMV Still Open During COVID-19?

No - all DMV offices in Florida are closed as of March 19th thru April 19th. The FLHSMV is currently set to reopen on April 19th, but we are not sure at this time if they will remain closed past April 19th. However, the State of Florida has not at this time offered any relief as far as registration renewals, new tags, etc. Please review the site below for updates on the FLHSMV's hours of operation during Novel Coronavirus. You are still able to get these documents renewed via local auto tag agencies in the area.

Also, there are extensions on the Real ID requirements for Florida. Governor DeSantis Is Enforcing COVID-19 Checkpoints into the State of Florida

Executive Order 20-86 has created a lot of changes for the State of Florida. For drivers and snowbirds with second homes in Palm Beach and Boca Raton, this could seriously affect your ability to travel to your second home in the Sunshine State. On March 27th, Governor DeSantis began limiting travel into the State. Who Is Being Screened by the Checkpoints on I-10 and I-95? Everyone will be required to stop at the checkpoints. If you're from Louisiana, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and trying to travel to the State of Florida, you'll be required to isolate yourself for 14 days once you have reentered Florida, or for the length of their visit, whichever time period is shorter.

Four Tips for Driving Safe this Halloween (for everyone... not just Florida drivers!)

Ah, yes. Halloween. It’s that time of the year that ghosts, ghouls, witches, and Your Preferred Comic Book Hero of Choice™ take to the streets, bearing hollow plastic pumpkins and holding little old ladies hostage for their candy. Of course, if you don’t give them the goods that they demand, they’ll threaten you with the ever-ominous “trick” part of their rallying cry of, “Trick or treat!” It’s truly a wholly terrifying experience...

How to Maintain a Classic Car in the Hot Hot Beachy Heat!

When you’re driving around here in South Florida, there’s sure to be a variety of vehicles you’ll encounter. We’ve got duck cars (hybrid car-slash-boat monstrosities that take to the streets and to the water), we’ve got seniors zipping by in golf carts, and we’ve also got those old beaters that are barely held together by a strip of duct tape and some earnest prayers...

How to Pick Out a Used Car (2019 Edition)

While some things are best purchased new – for instance, toilet paper comes to mind – other things can justifiably be purchased used. One of the best things you can buy used? A car. Did you know that a car’s retail value plummets a shocking 9 percent in the mere moment it took you to drive it off the lot? Ouch! In fact, in the first few years that you own your car, it’ll only continue to drop in value. By the time your four-wheeled baby is five years old, it’ll be worth a scant 40 percent of its original value. And you know what’s funny about that? Cars these days are actually built to last, so buying a used car isn’t just an economically wise decision, it’s just smart all-around...
